British Mountaineering Council Participation Statement

The BMC recognises that climbing and mountaineering are activities with a danger of personal injury or death. Participants in these activities should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for their own involvement.

By booking a course you are aware and accept these risks and will be responsible for your own actions & involvement. We will teach you how to manage these, but can never completely remove them.

 

Cancellation by Found in the Mountains UK - Jonathan Richardson (Us/We):

  • Courses, events or bookings are booked with the intention to run, but cancellations may occur if dangerous or unsuitable conditions for the activity arise.

  • In the event of cancellation by the Us, you will be notified as soon as possible.

  • Options for You in case of cancellation: full refund or rescheduling to another date.

  • We are not liable for any travel or accommodation-related expenses incurred by You.

 

Cancellation by The Client (You):

  • If You cancel, We will attempt to resell the course place where appropriate.

  • If We successfully resell the place before the start date, You will receive a full refund.

  • If the place is not resold, the refund policy depends on the notice period:

    • Less than 28 days' notice: No refund.

    • 28 days or more notice: Full refund.

  • Refunds will be processed on or before the course commencement date.

 

Insurance and Loss:

  • The provider/Us has Public Liability Insurance.

  • It is advisable for participants to have their own Personal Accident/Cancellation Insurance.

  • Participants are encouraged to check if their existing insurance covers the specific activity.

  • The provider/Us does not include personal accident, cancellation, third-party liability, or personal insurance.

  • The provider/Us accepts no responsibility for loss or damage to personal property.

 

This policy provides clarity on the responsibilities and expectations in case of course cancellations, emphasising the importance of personal insurance coverage for participants.

 

Under 18's:

Participants under the age of 18 are allowed to take part in activities with Found in the Mountains UK, but they must be accompanied by a guardian over the age of 18yrs.

Photo Usage:

  • Photos taken during the courses, events or bookings are treated with the strictest confidence.

  • The primary use of photos varies from posts for social media or evidence for reports for feedback to The Client or the end user.

  • Select photos may also be used for social media purposes.

Social Media Usage:

  • In the case of social media use, where posts are not general in nature, The Client maybe tagged.

  • Only appropriate photos will be used on social media.

Terms and condition continued - For Found in the Mountains UK - Jonathan Richardson (Us/We) conduction commercial work for The Client (You)

Cancellation by Found in the Mountains UK - Jonathan Richardson (Us/We):

  • Work is booked with the intention to by conducted, but cancellations may occur.

  • In the event of cancellation by the Us, you will be notified as soon as possible.

  • Where possible a suitable alternate date or contractor may be agreed. 

  • Options for You in case of cancellation: rescheduling to another date or We may be agreed for full/partial refund.

  • We are not liable for any other related expenses incurred by You.

 

Cancellation by The Client (You):

  • If You cancel, an invoice may still be raise in line with the below terms.

  • 28 Days - If cancellation is within 28 x days of the start date of work, then the Client will pay 50% of the agreed fee

  • 14 Days - If cancellation is within 14 x days of the start date of work, then the Client will pay 70% of the agreed fee

  • 5 Days - If cancellation is within 5 x days of the start date of work, then the Client will pay 85% of the agreed fee

  • 2 Days - If cancellation is within 48 hours of the start date of work, then the Client will pay 100% of the agreed fee

 

Insurance and Loss:

  • The provider/Us has appropriate Liability Insurance.

  • It is advisable for You to have your own Insurance.

  • Clients are encouraged to check if their existing insurance covers the specific work.

  • The provider/Us accepts no responsibility for any unrelated losses or damage that You may incur.

Tools and Equipment;

  • Due to the possible nature and variety of the work, We will have basic set of tools depending on the work scheduled, all other tools including Power Tools and Work at High Equipment should be supplied by The Client unless otherwise agreed.
